In a bid to boost its Prime membership volumes in India, e-commerce behemoth Amazon has launched ‘Prime Reading’ in India. The service is available on Amazon’s book reading device Kindle and its app.
Prime members can now get access to unlimited reading from a rotating selection of best-selling e-Books at no additional cost, Amazon said.
This is in addition to other services such unlimited free and next-day delivery, Indian and international video content, ad-free music in several languages, exclusive and early access to deals and other facilities that Prime members can avail.
“Prime Reading builds the habit of reading. Prime members can now read their favourite titles at no additional cost by conveniently downloading and reading e-Books within minutes. They can discover and read new and bestselling titles from a variety of authors at no additional cost,” said Rajiv Mehta, Country Manager, Kindle India.
Speaking about the launch, Akshay Sahi, Director and Head of Prime, Amazon India, said, “Amazon Prime already offers members great value with free, fast delivery, streaming of movies, TV series, music and lots more. Prime Reading is yet another offering for Prime members to help make their everyday life better and more fun.”
Prime Reading provides access to hundreds of eligible, popular e-Books including bestsellers like Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and One Indian Girl. It will include e-Books from literature and fiction, comics, non-fiction and will be available in Indian languages including Hindi and Tamil.
Prime members can explore Prime Reading by downloading the free 2 MB Kindle Lite Android app or the free Kindle app for Android phones and tablets, iPhone and iPad, or on any Kindle E-reader, according to a press release by the company.
