Semiconductor design innovator AMD on Thursday launched its next generation A-Series Accelerated Processing Units (APUs) for desktop, laptops and home-theatre personal computers (PCs) in India.

The company said it will target the new APUs for do-it-yourself (DIY) PC builders, mainstream gamers and value-added resellers who want to upgrade their PC infrastructure with performance, graphics, multiple cores and fast processing for better responsiveness.

The A-Series APU will be available at prices ranging from Rs 3,000-8,000.

“The world is moving around graphics and the APU is something accepted world over with better battery life (around 10 hours). We have launched the first generation APU a year ago and the new generation is an upgrade to it,” Ravi Swaminathan, Managing Director and Vice President-Sales and Marketing, AMD India, said.

He said with central processing unit and graphics processor unit, the next generation AMD A-Series APU performance is improved by allowing the frequencies of the GPU and CPU cores to automatically increase.
