The IT Industry Association of Andhra Pradesh (ITsAP) has asked job seekers to check the veracity of job offers with relevant people in companies.

The association has issued a detailed advisory on Monday, keeping in view reports of some fly-by-night operators duping job seekers in Andhra Pradesh in the last few months.

“We have received complaints that students and other job seekers in IT and IT-enabled service sectors are receiving fake mails and other communications offering jobs and asking them to make payments,” it said.

“In view of the huge demand for employment in IT and ITeS sectors, we strongly advise the student community and others looking for jobs to verify veracity of such communication by approaching the companies,” it said.

“Please check whether the company offering you the job is registered under the Companies Act, STPI, AP Shop and Establishments Act 1988. Before an individual enters into a financial commitment in the form of bonds or deposits, they should make sure of the legal validity of all such transactions,” ITsAP advised.

It is a safe practice to insist on a proper printed copy of the appointment letter, duly signed by the authorised signatory on the company letter head and not just an offer letter and non-payment of salary should be viewed with suspicion and brought to the notice of the authorities. It can be brought to our notice if it is registered with us, the association said.
