Artificial Intelligence and machine learning appear to be playing out across the country, with brands relying on enormous amounts of data to provide solutions to some of the trickiest problems. What was once the domain of a few, is now available across industries, with several e-commerce giants and even start-ups using the latest technologies to build high-impact solutions.
Paola Norambuena, Chief Content Ofiicer at brand consultancy Interbrand, points out that firms are employing AI to solve real problems and push ahead competitively. From auto collision prevention to better control of health, and from better personal experiences to cyber security, several brands are utilising technology to improve lives, she adds.
In a report, Interbrand has noted that AI has increased elevenfold since 2014, and has reiterated that technology does live up to its hype. Instead of the fully formed digital personalities that one has come to expect from science fiction, the report states AI is “emerging piece by piece with solutions that can impact us with immediacy. Visual recognition, the ability to process spoken and written words, and both learning and logic capabilities, are progressing at an incredible rate.”
Several brands appear to be leading the charge by creating and harnessing these new tools. AI was also the rage when Google recently announced the fourth instalment of its Launchpad Accelerator programme. Of the shortlisted six Indian start-ups, which are to kick off at the Google Developers’ Launchpad Space in San Francisco in July, most use AI. Like Bengaluru-based EdGE Networks, an AI-powered HR solutions provider, that is using data science and AI to analyse job descriptions and profiles, and provide requisite jobs to consumers. It has also teamed up with the National Skill Development Corporation that has funded the start-up with a grant.
Another start-up, SigTuple, a smart healthcare screening solutions firm, is powered by data-driven intelligence. It is working with pathology labs and hospitals to generate required data for developing its solutions. It builds intelligent screening solutions to aid diagnosis through AI-powered analysis of visual medical data.
