Telecom tower infrastructure provider Bharti Infratel has reported consolidated net profit of ₹565 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, up 12 per cent as compared to ₹507 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Consolidated revenue also rose 5 per cent year-on-year during the quarter to ₹3,093 crore, as against ₹2,949 crore in October-December 2014, the company said.
“Capital expenditure for the telecom sector is on the rise due to aggressive rollout of 3G and 4G networks by operators, encouraged by increasing mobile data usage and focus on quality of service,” said Akhil Gupta, Chairman of Bharti Infratel.
“We are already seeing a sharp surge in data installations; these companies shall be major beneficiaries of this accelerated rollout and capex,” he added.
As of December 31, the company has total tower base of 88,055. Bharti Infratel’s shares closed at ₹381.90 on the BSE on Wednesday, up 4.40 per cent from the previous close.
