Research In Motion (RIM) and Nokia on Thursday announced the launch of new phones targeted at different segments.
RIM announced the launch of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone with the latest 7 Operating System in India. The device, priced at Rs 31,290, offers a large highly-tactile keyboard together with a touch display.
The BlackBerry Bold 9900 features a range of hardware enhancements including a 1.2 GHz processor, HD video recording, 24-bit high resolution graphics, and advanced sensors enabling new augmented reality applications such as Wikitude.
This is the thinnest BlackBerry smart phone yet (at only 10.5mm) and is also the first BlackBerry smartphone to include built-in support for NFC (Near Field Communications). NFC is a new technology that is enabling many new and exciting capabilities, including the ability to pair accessories or even buy a burger with a simple tap of the smartphone.
Nokia strengthens dual SIM portfolio
Meanwhile, Nokia strengthened its dual SIM portfolio with Nokia C2-03 and Nokia C2-06. Nokia has also introduced a single SIM variant of the phone, Nokia C2-02.
All three phones deliver Internet browsing experience through data compression technology of the Nokia Browser.
Nokia has also introduced location-based service specifically designed for entry consumers in India, where local maps and places of interest are pre-installed on the phone.
The three phones also pack a 2 megapixel camera, stereo FM radio, media player and memory support that can be expanded to 32 GB, letting users store thousands of photos, videos and music files. Nokia C2-02 and C2-03 is priced at Rs 4,289 and Rs 4,949 respectively. For the Nokia C2-06 it is Rs 5,349.
