Mahindra Satyam and Tech Mahindra have signed an agreement with CA Technologies to conduct joint research in cloud, telecom, manufacturing and the healthcare verticals.

The IT firms have established the Mahindra-CA Research Centre at Pune with staff strength of 70.

“We have been working with CA Tech for the last few years on different initiatives. The new initiative is aimed at finding solutions for problems of clients,” Mr C. P. Gurnani, Chief Executive Officer-designate of Mahindra Satyam-Tech Mahindra, said.

Addressing a press conference to announce the Global Framework Agreement (GFA) at Mahindra Satyam's Infocity Campus here on Tuesday, he said the association is aimed at building a business model to offer shared and managed services to clients through a joint and strategic approach.

Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Satyam, together with CA Technologies, are already providing cloud computing services based on CA Technologies' tools.

Growth Engine

This agreement further creates a growth engine that will make a viable and successful business model to respond to the needs of the market at competitive prices, Mr William McCracken, Chief Executive Officer of CA Technologies, said.

In a separate press conference at the CA Tech campus at Gachibowli, Mr McCracken said that the company would keep 200-300 firms globally on its acquisition radar. “We annually spend $400-500 million on acquisitions. The size of acquisitions generally ranges from $10 million to $500 million,” he said. “Of the 300 firms that are on the radar for acquisitions, there are several from India,” Mr Saurab Srivastava, Chairman of CA India, said.

The company spent about $2 billion in the last two-and-half years. India has emerged as one of the key growth markets as it was growing at 7 per cent.

Tie-up with IIIT

“It is the biggest development centre for us with about 2,000 employees. We will be filling up the remaining capacity to add 500 people,” he said.

The company has also signed a pact with International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-Hyderabad) to set up University Innovation Centre at CA Tech facility here.
