What gadget do you use?

I use various gadgets like the Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy S4, DigitalPersona fingerprint reader, and a 3D LED Smart TV. My house is a Wi-Fi hub for at least 13-15 client devices.

Which is the latest gadget you picked up?

The Sony smartwatch. This, I believe, is the first step towards wearable technology.

What is your dream machine?

My dream machine is a driverless car. I hate driving through Bangalore traffic. A driverless car would be great to have! It would not ask for salary advances frequently.

Another dream is that I should be able to update my gadgets’ hardware by clicking on a hardware update icon in the air.

What do you not like about technology?

Unreliability. The day when I have to complete some critical work and decide to do it at home is when my internet breaks down. Another important thing is the power requirement. Computing power, processor - everything is becoming better but also consuming more power. Ensuring that multiple gadgets are always charged is a pain.

Which apps are you addicted to?

Multiple. Few of them are SPB Wallet – a great app because of which I no longer have to keep track of all my digital passwords. Remember the Milk, a powerful and simple-to-use task management app. After I started using this app, I have never forgotten to take home the milk that my wife would have asked for.

One funny/nostalgic anecdote relating to tech.

My son, ever since he was 4 years, started playing with his Xbox 360 Kinect. Recently, when we got an apple TV installed, his first thought was to move hands and do some gestures to operate it. Realising it did not work he no longer wants to use it.

What’s the biggest tech disaster according to you?

One is that Apple is thinking about replacing Google maps with theirs. Another I think is cross compatibility. Standardisation across devices (both software and hardware) is still a challenge.

One instance where technology solved your problem?

There have been multiple instances. I could never remember to make my various bill payments on time. Net banking features like automatic scheduling of bills and payments have really helped me. Similarly, the navigation system (Google maps navigation), allowed me to drive across south India.
