The Chennai-based iconic retail brand Nalli (Chinnasami Chetty), has served a legal notice on online retailer Snapdeal.com and asked it to “cease and desist using their trademark Nalli as their search criterion”.
A press release from Nalli says it also asked Snapdeal to remove all photographic images of Nalli products from its website. The release says on June 11, Nalli noticed “while undertaking a Google search for nalli.com that Snapdeal, has misused their registered trademark Nalli and also copied the photographic images from Nalli’s website.”
It is a deliberate attempt by Snapdeal to deceive the public to unjustly enrich itself by giving out an impression that original Nalli silk sarees are available on its platform. But, in reality, online sale of Nalli products are done exclusively through nalli.com, it added.
