SFO Technologies, the flagship company of the diversified conglomerate NeST Group, has been appraised at CMMI Dev 2.0 Maturity Level 5. The company claims that they are the first firm in the world to win the certification.
Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a process level improvement training and appraisal programme administered by the CMMI Institute, developed at Carnegie Mellon University in the US. The appraisal process covers the software operations of NeST Group, across domains such as aerospace & defence, healthcare, transportation and industrial & energy. The certification is the best endorsement for the mature and standards-compliant process framework employed by the company, resulting in proven delivery capabilities for software that is defect-free and conforming to customer requirements, said Althaf Jehangir, Executive Director (Hardware Division).
NeST group has been servicing leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and system integrators across the world, undertaking development of application software and embedded software, along with making of prototypes, electronic assembly and manufacturing of advanced electronic equipment etc since 1990.
The company has factory complexes and software development centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Bengaluru, Pune and Mysuru, besides in the US, Thailand and Japan. Further, it has extensive presence in West Asia for business software. The clients across the globe includes GE, Thales, Boeing, Denso, DRDO etc.
According to Jehangir, the group is currently spending 5-7 per cent of its turnover on R&D to incorporate latest technologies and is investing to develop new protocols such as additive printing, deep learning etc.
