Cognizant CEO Francisco D’Souza joins GE board

Cognizant Technology Solutions’ CEO Francisco D’Souza has joined General Electric Co (GE) board of directors, says a press release issued by GE.

D’Souza is one of the founders of Cognizant, which has large offshore development centres in India. He has been CEO and a director of the company since 2007.

“D’Souza brings great perspective as a leader and a pioneer in services and software,” said GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt.

“Our focus on helping customers achieve greater productivity through GE technologies make his views all the more valuable for our company. I am pleased to welcome Frank to our board.”

On his joining the board of GE, D’ Souza in the release said: “I’m honoured to join the board of GE — a company that has been an icon of innovation and management since it was founded. I look forward to working with Jeff Immelt and the rest of the GE board.”

In addition to his leadership of Cognizant, D’Souza is a director of the US-India Business Council and a Trustee of Carnegie Mellon University.

He graduated from the University of East Asia with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University, says the release.
