Christel House, an international non-profit organisation that assists impoverished children, has launched a English Language Lab in Bengaluru with funding help from Cognizant Foundation, the CSR arm of consulting and IT major Cognizant.
Set up in a school run by Christel House, the lab was inaugurated by Hariraj Vijayakumar, Global Head, Learning and Development, Cognizant, in the presence of Jaya George and Jaison C Mathew, Directors, Christel House.
The lab is to develop English communication skills and thereby improve employability of underprivileged children who receive education, nutrition and healthcare support at Christel House.
Raju Shahani, Managing Director, Christel House India, said, “Christel House has broken the cycle of poverty by ensuring that the school graduates over the past three years are placed in Universities and thereafter jobs in the corporate sector. We took an informed step to set up the language lab to develop and hone English speaking, writing and reading skills of the students and ultimately their families. This will further help build employability of Christel House graduates. We are grateful to Cognizant Foundation for their funding support for the lab’s infrastructure.”
