Cyient, formerly Infotech Enterprises, is going to set up a facility in Warangal, the second biggest city in Telangana. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao will lay the foundation for the facility that will seat 1,000 employees in the next two months.
The facility will come up at the Madikonda Special Economic Zone (SEZ) developed by of the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC).
“The Cyient Technology Development Centre will focus on advanced geographic information system (GIS), remote sensing, and photo-grammetry technologies, catering to a host of solutions for the transportation (navigation), utilities, and communications sectors,” Cyient Executive Chairman BVR Mohan Reddy has said.
“The engineering solutions company, which has over 10,000 employees, will spend ₹25 crore on developing the 70,000 sq ft facility,” a senior government official told BusinessLine.
The company, however, will start operations soon from Warangal, with the government agreeing to give it some space at the Incubation Facility developed by the TSIIC. “We gave them five acres to build the facility in the next two years. But they will start operations soon with 100 seats,” the official said.
Mohan Reddy said the centre would have spatial data analytics solutions to address the requirements of specialised geospatial data processing services, using light detection and ranging (LiDAR) and other point cloud technologies.
