Cyient, an IT & engineering services provider, has been selected by Liberty Global, the world’s largest international cable TV and broadband company, to support its new GIGAWorld initiative to bring Gigabit broadband speeds to its operations in Europe.
Announced last November, Liberty Global’s GIGAWorld initiative seeks to bring broadband speeds of one gigabit and more to tens of millions of households across Europe. Around 50 million homes in Europe have access to Liberty Global’s fibre-based “GIGAReady” networks today. Liberty Global expects that millions more will be connected over the coming years.
With capabilities in delivering fibre-to-the-premise) and HFC (hybrid-fibre coaxial) planning and design services, Cyient will support Liberty Global for faster provisioning of next-generation broadband services to existing and new customers, according to a company press release.
Krishna Bodanapu, Managing Director and CEO of Cyient, said: “We clearly understand the key requirements in delivering programmes of this scale. With over 25 years of experience in network management and operation, we are well placed to provide data-driven designs for Liberty Global’s footprint expansion programme.”
Colin Buechner, Managing Director, Access Network of Liberty Global. said the collaboration will help expand networks so that they become faster and responsive to the evolving needs of the customers.
