Delhi has emerged as the top eCommerce hub in the country with Kolkata far below at number eight position in 2012, according to a census conducted by leading eCommerce platform eBay.
Covering 4,306 eCommerce hubs across 28 states and seven union territories across the country, the top eCommerce hub was Delhi closely followed by Mumbai, Jaipur, Bengaluru and Chennai.
The survey revealed that Kolkata was at the number eight position, Sharat Digumarti, director, revenue management, Asia Pacific region told reporters here today.
The top five states with most transactions were Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The most wired states with maximum eCommerce hubs were Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
The top rural hubs according to the census were Guntur (AP), Choryasi (Gujarat), Kartikapall (Kerala), Villupuram (Tamil Nadu) and Dindori (Maharashtra).
Amongst the product categories which dominated transactions were electronics at 48 per cent out of which 41 per cent were lifestyle categories, he said.
