Dell India will provide customised solutions at affordable prices to tap the small and medium businesses (SMB) in India.
According to Mr Avik Rudra, Asia-Pacific Japan, enterprise product management, SMB, Dell, the segment is highly price sensitive.
“Price sensitivity is a big issue for the SMB segment. We are looking at designing products at competitive prices,” he said at a press meet here on Wednesday.
Dell would look at offering pre-engineered and customised solutions to the segment, which is a fast growing business vertical for the company.
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), there are eight million SMBs in India and Dell holds a 12.5 per cent share of the total market. The company holds a 14.6 per cent market share in the consumer segment.
“Solutions that we are designing for SMBs are simpler and smaller keeping in view their budgetary constraints. This, however, does not mean that the technology is any less advanced,” he said.
Dell has launched certain pre-engineered solutions for the segment in March this year and is likely to launch 2-3 more of such solutions by this year-end.
Dell's SMB segment has been growing at 30-35 per cent against the industry average of 18-20 per cent. Mr Rudra, however, declined to comment on the future growth projections. IT, ITeS and manufacturing are some of the fastest growing SMB segments.
“The trend of adoption of technology is picking up in the SMB segment due to the entry of third generation businessmen. So this segment is set to witness growth,” he said.
Kolkata market
With close to 1.27 lakh SMBs and an ICT spend of close to $132 million, Kolkata, is an important market for Dell, he said.
