As Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Digital India Week here on Wednesday, the Congress staked claimed for the basis of the programme. In a statement, the Party said the foundation for “Digital India” was laid by the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by “unleashing the Information Technology potential of the country.”
“As the BJP government pats its own back today on successfully renaming yet another UPA venture namely National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) as Digital India, the people of India can only hope that this successfully implemented and underway plan of the UPA Government doesn’t meet the same fate as the renamed ‘Make in India’ scheme,” said Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala.
He said while the BJP government is successful in “hacking and tweaking and altering lineages and websites,” it is jinxed as far as implementing programmes is concerned.
