The Department of Telecom will seek more clarification from the telecom regulator on its recommendations on spectrum auction. The Telecom Commission, which met today to discuss the TRAI proposals, did not take a decision due to lack of consensus.

"We will seek clarity from the sector regulator on its proposals related to bandwidth auctions," Telecom Secretary Mr R. Chandrashekhar said on Monday.

The department will send by Wednesday its queries seeking to know the rationale behind the starting price of auction, its impact on the industry, reframing of bandwidth and eligibility criteria, among others. DoT expects to receive a response from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India in two weeks' time. The commission may meet again on May 14 and take a final decision on the auction rules by the end of May
