Online e-commerce company eBay has opened a new development centre in Bangalore and plans to hire 1,000 IT professionals by 2016. Of this, 300 IT professionals have already been hired and the rest will be staggered over in the next three years, according to eBay officials. This is eBay’s third India centre apart from the ones in Chennai and Mumbai. The centre will work on technologies pertaining to eBay and Paypal, a company that it bought out which allows payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. “This development centre will work on mobile commerce-related apps, design for the eBay Web site, analytics and online security solutions for traditional and mobile channels of commerce,” said Ken Moss, Vice-President of Technology and Sciences, eBay Marketplaces. With this push to hire talent in India, eBay plans to increase the pace of innovation and drive newer models in e-commerce, according to industry watchers.
