Payments solution provider Oxigen Services has partnered with online marketplace eBay India to offer assisted offline e-commerce services to the former’s customers.
A customer can now walk into any of the 2 lakh Oxigen-enabled outlets spread across metros, tier II and III cities, and rural locations, view the variety of products listed on ebay.in through a computer or smartphone, and place an order.
The association brings a “unique” online-to-offline solution and will help Oxigen customers access over 100 million product listings on eBay, offering them an easier way for buying products by using their relationship with Oxigen outlets and using their Oxigen wallets, the company said.
As a result, a cash-paying customer who does not have a credit/debit card and wants to benefit from an online purchase, can now have access to the entire range of products in eBay .
Commenting on the tie-up, Latif Nathani, Vice-President and Managing Director, eBay India, said: “Our partnership with Oxigen will not only help us penetrate deeper into tier II and III markets, but also offer consumers an opportunity to shop from a range of products and deals available on eBay India through an assisted shopping mechanism.”
‘Locker service’ The Oxigen outlet will order the product on behalf of the buyer and the product will get delivered to the outlet. This is in a way, a sort of value-added locker service, and would be the first of its kind in India, Nathani added.
Pramod Saxena, Chairman, Oxigen Services, said the tie-up with eBay India was Oxigen’s first full-scale e-commerce tie-up India. He said the partnership will also enable Oxigen customers to avail themselves of credit to purchase lifestyle and technology products, which was hitherto outside their purchasing power.
“We will provide our credit offering to the retailer to help the them extend credit to the customer,” he said.
