Chennai based EdServ, India’s largest mobile-based education service support company, has entered into an agreement with Nokia, the largest manufacturer of handsets in the world, to offer educational content on Nokia smartphones worldwide.

“Nokia has approved our HumThum apps for hosting in Nokia’s Ovi apps store and the apps are now available to run inside all Nokia smartphones,” EdServ Chairman and CEO, Mr S Giridharan, told PTI here today.

“This tie-up will enable students to use our wide range of educational content, including tuition, academics, skill development and test prep services —— which have till now been available on our flagship education and career portal, www.lampsglow.com —— quite comfortably on Nokia smartphones through the HumThum apps,” he said.

This will help students to learn as well as tap career opportunities by accessing the HumThum apps anywhere, anytime from their Nokia smartphones. EdServ’s HumThum apps even have a PDF converter that will change the Nokia smartphone into a mobile scanner or a photocopier.

The HumThum apps also have a ‘Talking Dictionary’ that will provide the pronunciation and meaning of any English word.

Hum Thum also helps users to design, host and update their own personal or business website from their mobile phone.

Mr Giridharan said, “EdServ has already garnered over 2.5 lakh users on lampsglow.com, out of which over 50 per cent was from mobile segment. EdServ is targeting a subscribed user base of 1 crore for its mobile apps by the end of next year.”

EdServ is in talks with other leading mobile manufacturers as well to expand its reach in the mobile education segment. As a pioneer in mobile—based education from the kindergarten to post—graduate level, EdServ believes its scope is unlimited, he said.
