Chennai based e—learning company EdServ said on Wednesday that it would invest around Rs 40 crore in setting up instructor—led—training centres across the country.
“The aim of opening up EdServ training institutes (EDI) on a national scale, including in towns and rural centres, is to offer aspiring students exam support as well as job oriented skills support services,” EdServ Chairman and CEO, Mr S Giridharan, said in a statement.
The company plans to open 200 franchisee—led centres across the country, including about 80 centres in South India, within the next six months, the company said.
EdServ is targeting revenues of over Rs 20 crore in the first year of the launch of the centres, it added.
EdServ has around 1,000 distributors for its e—learning platform and the company plans to upgrade many of them into partners for the brick and mortar model as well, EdServ said.
The existing distributors can sign up for free for the franchisee whereas the new ones have to pay anywhere between Rs 1—2 lakh to get the franchisee, a company spokesperson said.
As part of the launch offering, the company will offer free tablet PC to every student who will enrol into the centre.
