The Tamil Nadu Government inaugurated an Rs 1.26 crore administrative office for Elcot.
The administrative office of Elcot, short for Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu, a State Government enterprise promotes electronics and information technology industry, is in Sholinganallur SEZ. The office was inaugurated by J. Jayalalithaa, Chief Minister, over a video conferencing facility, according to an official press release.
She named the eight Special Economic Zones promoted by Elcot, including the Sholinganallur SEZ, as Elcosez. Elcot’s administrative office is spread over 6,358 sq ft and also includes the Central Excise office.
Jayalalithaa also inaugurated a link between the Tamil Nadu State Data Centre and the Tamil Nadu State Wide Area Network with the National Knowledge Network, which links research and educational facilities across the country. The National Network has a I Gbps point of presence in the National Data Centre in Besant Nagar.
The e-governance programmes of the State and Centre can be coordinated through this secure link, the release said.
The State Data Centre is qualified to receive the ISO 20000 and ISO 27001 certifications. Det Norske Veritas handed over the ISO certification to the Chief Minister, the release said.
