Engineer.ai has launched Builder that allows people and businesses to custom-build digital products through human-assisted AI. The platform can be used for building different applications such as mobile apps, websites, e-commerce platforms and wearables. Currently launched in India, Builder will be launched in the UK, Europe, the US, China and Japan in the coming months.
Speaking to mediapersons at the launch of Builder, Sachin Dev Duggal, co-founder, said the company would focus on small businesses, including restaurants, pubs and kirana stores and is in talks with a few players for the same. The company has so far completed 120 projects in the last 18 months, during their pilot period, and has 50-70 active clients.
How does the platform work? Businesses or people who want to build an application or digital product can go to Builder. On the platform, people can choose the kind of product they want, by browsing through a template of popular applications such as Ola and Facebook. Once you are done choosing, you will get the entire cost upfront, which is paid on a weekly basis.
The company works with over 20,000 engineers across East Europe, India and the US to get the products delivered on time. The engineers belong to companies that outsource talent, where Engineer.ai has formed partnerships. The products are hosted on cloud platforms, Azure and AWS. The company is in talks with more cloud partners for hosting. Engineer.ai registered revenues of $23 million for the fiscal ended March 2018. It is bootstrapped and so far $8 million has gone into building the platform.
