Soon after Nandan Nilekani took over as the non-executive Chairman of Infosys, he made it clear that those who will be considered for the CEO’s post will include senior executives who had left the company.
According to sources, some of those who are in the race include BG Srinivas, Ashok Vemuri and TV Mohandas Pai, all former top executives who were at one time considered for the coveted post. While Srinivas held the post of President, Vemuri was a board member heading the American operations; Pai was CFO, Director of HR and a board member.
Earlier, on his first day after returning to Infosys, Nilekani assured investors that the company is seeing no issues with clients. He, however, sought more time to provide clarity on the corporate governance lapses arising out of the Panaya acquisition.
Nilekani reached out to key clients and employees, and sought more time to provide an update on his strategy and company performance.
He asserted that his job was to ensure that it was business was as usual and to also find a few CEO for Infosys.
“We will look within the company, outside it, as well as at Infosys alumni,” he said. Analysts too are keeping a watch on the company. “The new CEO should have the ability to grow business in new technology areas,” said Urmil Shah, analyst at IDBI Capital.
