A group of former employees of Verizon Data Services Private Ltd (VDSI) has filed a complaint against the company for “physically intimidating and threatening” them, while asking them to sign the resignation papers.
“They hired bouncers and hooligans who threatened us with dire consequences if we did not sign the papers,” they said in the complaint filed with the Circle Inspector of Madhpur Police Station on Thursday.
Recalling the incidents of December 12 and 13, they said they were called in for a meeting with a HR manager. “A few bouncers were also present in the room. We were given printed resignation papers and asked to sign them. We were not given any time,” the complaint said.
“We request you to take cognisance of this complaint and ensure that strict action is taken against the perpetrators,” it said.
About 200 employees were reportedly removed from VDSI’s Hyderabad facility. Some of ousted employees moved the Labour Department of Telangana government. Talks had not made much head away. Meanwhile, the firm has denied the allegations made by the employees.
‘No force used’“We deny any use of force or intimidation, including use of bouncers, on our employees as alleged by some people,” a company spokesperson said, when asked for their response on the allegations made by the complainants.
“Our recent role rationalisation exercise was done with sensitivity caring for the financial, medical insurance and career transition needs of the impacted employees.
“And all through the exercise, we upheld the dignity and respect of all involved,” the firm claimed.
The firm said it has not received any notification from the police. “If we receive it, we will fully cooperate with them,” it said.
