Ezetap Mobile Solutions, a mobile-based payments service provider, has announced the launch of Universal Mobile Wallet Acceptance.
This solution – billed as the first in India – allows merchants to accept customer payments from any mobile wallet through their Ezetap point of sale (PoS) application.
The solution is integrated into the Ezetap card acceptance platform and offers merchants a unified one-stop solution for all payment acceptance, Abhijit Bose, CEO and Co-founder of Ezetap, told BusinessLine . Ezetap is launching this functionality with four of the biggest wallet providers – Paytm, MobiKwik, Freecharge and Novopay.
As on date, Ezetap has about 70,000 PoS deployed across the country with transactions worth about $1.5 million daily.
According to a study by research firm RNCOS, the Indian market size for mobile wallet stands at ₹350 crore, estimated to rise to ₹1,210 crore by 2019.
Until now, consumers have used mobile wallets only for mobile commerce and on-phone purchase.
On the merchants’ side, businesses have been struggling to keep up with the rapid change of pace and they are figuring out how to support the increasing number of electronic payment options available to their customers.
