Food tech start-ups are cashing in on the festival shopping frenzy with major discounts and deals, free goodie bags and gift hampers to lure new customers and reward existing ones.

“This is the time of the year when people forget their diets and feast on festival delicacies, Neha Puri, founder CEO, CyberChef, told Business Line. “We are offering our customers a guilt-free Diwali, where they can binge on a variety of cuisines with a daily changing menu, homemade by our chefs, at discounts ranging from 20-50 per cent, until Diwali. We are also offering to host parties for up to 35 people, wherein our home chefs will prepare food onsite at customer homes.”

There are gift hampers for customers who order above ₹500. Besides creating more awareness about CyberChef, Puri hopes to acquire 500-600 new customers this season.

Hyperlocal food delivery platform Swiggy, which allows customers to order food from nearby restaurants, is giving out cracker boxes along with each delivery on Diwali day. It has tied up with local sweet shops in the seven cities it operates in, accepting requests from customers to deliver sweet boxes for ₹350 and ₹450 per box.

“A customer from Bengaluru can order a sweet box to be delivered to a friend in Delhi,” said co-founder Nandan Reddy.

Ratan Tata-backed Holachef is looking to give a ‘home-touch’ this season. “Food is an intrinsic part of festive celebrations. We are providing traditional snacks, meals and sweets from different States to make everyone feel at home wherever they may be re-located,” said founder Saurabh Saxena.
