Anand Sankaran, the former chief of Wipro’s Middle-East and India business, will head Dell’s services business.
He will be reporting to Suresh Vaswani, the president of the services division of Dell, according to a company statement. Vaswani was the co-CEO of Wipro a few years ago With this announcement, Dell is again signalling its intent of becoming a services, rather than a product, company and comes a week after the company announced its plans to go private.
Sankaran, who has worked in Wipro for more than 20 years and who was instrumental in getting technology deals from banks such as HDFC in 2006 for Wipro, will lead a team of 10,000 employees and will be responsible for driving infrastructure consulting and delivery, managed services and services related to the Dell’s cloud computing offerings.
He succeeds Kevin Jones, who moved into the recently created chief customer and sales officer role within Dell Services.
