A team of officials from Foxconn, the $131.8-billion Taiwanese electronics giant, met Karnataka government officials a couple of days ago.
K Ratna Prabha, Karnataka Additional Chief Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, confirmed the development to BusinessLine and said, "One of them (company official) met me some time back. He said he would come back in a week’s time."
Today, visiting Foxconn officals are to meet industry bodies and a few companies the company has partnered or associated with in Bengaluru.
The Taiwanese company is planning 10 manufacturing plants in the country and has been visiting potential states to check out the infrastructure available.
28 projects cleared
Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has cleared 28 industrial projects with an investment of more than Rs 29,087 crore to be implemented in Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts.
According to the Chief Minister's office, among the projects cleared are 11 industrial projects in Kalaburagi and 17 in Yadgir which will together give employment to 15,472 persons.
150 acres have been allotted to the Railways for the proposed coach building factory at Kadechur and Badiyal villages in Yadgir district.
Coca-Cola Beverages has been allotted 250 acres for its bottling unit to be established in the same villages at an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.
Approval has been granted to Chettinad Cement Corporation’s Rs 1,665-crore factory at Chincholi taluk, the establishment of Dal Park on 100 acres in Kapnoor, Gulbarga Cement's factory at Ferozabad on 1,821 acres, and an industrial estate to be built on 27.35 acres in Chittapur.
