From commemorating birthdays of notable people to lauding achievements in science and big cultural events like the Olympics, Google doodles have celebrated special days across the globe.
It has now announced the Doodle 4 Google competition for 2012 with the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity’ for children. Children aged between 5 and 16 years can participate in the contest and share their creativity by doodling on the Google logo.
Last year, the contest received over one lakh entries. This year, the contest will reach over 40 cities. As in the previous years, the winning doodle will be featured on the Google (India) Home Page on Children’s Day (November 14th). The final winner of the competition will be announced at an event in New Delhi on November 6.
Announcing this year’s competition, Nikhil Rungta, Country Marketing Head, Google India, said, “Doodle 4 Google is a great opportunity for students to explore the intersection of art and technology, while sharing their talents and creativity on a national scale.”
The participants will be grouped into three different categories: Group 1 - comprising students from class 1 to 3; Group 2 - with students from class 4 to 6; and Group 3 - with students from class 7 to 10. This year, the contest will be divided into 4 regions - North, South, East and West.
