Google Chrome Labs has released web app - Squoosh that can downsize, compress, and reformat images.
In a blog post , Google said, “This powerful image compression tool launches almost instantly, and then manages a smooth UI even when it’s doing heavy work, including using Web Assembly to do more with codecs the browser doesn’t have baked in.”

Squoosh supports various web formats including OptiPNG, MozJPEG, WebP, BrowserPNG, BrowserJPEG and BrowserWebP. Once the image is loaded, Squoosh works offline, and smoothly when heavy images are loaded.
The app works on all major browsers - desktop and mobile. The source code is availble at GitHub , says 9to5google.
