After Microsoft, it is now Google’s turn to try its hand at making a tablet.
An article by Mr Shane Richmond, Editorial Head of UK’s Telegraph said that Google may try to sell the standard version of the tablet for less than $200.
Google already has a tablet, the Xoom from Motorola, which it acquired for $12.5 billion in August 2011. The Xoom, according to Motorola's site, is priced at $449.99.
The top selling Android tablet is Amazon’s Kindle Fire, which according to its site is priced at $199.
According to research firm comScore, the Fire has a US market share of 54.4 per cent followed by the Samsung Galaxy Tab family (15.4 per cent) and Motorola Xoom (7 per cent).
While Apple makes both hardware and software for products like the iPhone and the iPad, Google sticks to the software Android OS; it has however earlier made the Nexus smart phone along with vendors like Samsung and Asus.
