Google Pay has tied up with IRCTC for booking train tickets. Originally called Tez, Google Pay is an UPI app from Google.
Ambarish Kenghe, Director, Product Management, Google Pay, in a post said that IRCTC tickets can be booked or cancelled from the Google Pay app at no additional cost.
Users will be able to search and browse trains, and book or cancel tickets with their IRCTC account directly from Google Pay.
Tickets can be booked four months in advance.
Availability, duration
Users will also be able to find out details like seat availability, journey duration, and travel times between stations
How to book train tickets from Google Pay
First, you must have an existing IRCTC account or Google Pay will prompt the you to create one in the IRCTC website (not on Google Pay) during the booking process. The ticket booking process: 1. Open the Google Pay app2. In the Business section, click on the Trains icon 3. Click on New ticket4. Search for trains by origin, destination and date of travel. This will display a list of trains. (You can either enter a place name or the station's code. If the place has more than one station, all stations will be included in the search. 5. Select the train and tap on Check availability6. Select the Class and tap Select7. Tap OK9. Enter the IRCTC user ID . If you don't have an IRCTC user ID, you will be prompted to create on on the IRCTC site. 10. Enter the Passenger and contact information (even infants below 5 years must be included). You can enter up to six passengers and two infants per ticket booking. If you are booking for more passengers and infants, you must book another ticket 11. Tap Continue12. If the information is correct, tap Continue 13 . Select a payment method, then tap on Proceed to Pay14. Enter the UPI Pin . Once the PIN is confirmed you will be taken to the IRCTC website. 15. Enter the IRCTC password and CAPTCHA and tap on Submit
How to view tickets in Google Pay
In the Business section, tap the Trains icon.
Under transaction history , select the ticket you want to view
Tap View details
How to cancel tickets in Google Pay
Tickets can be cancelled in Google Pay any time as long as the train's chart hasn't been prepared.
1. In the Business Section , tap the Trains icon.
2. In the transaction history , select the ticket you want to cancel
3. Tap View details
5. At the bottom of the View details tab, tap Cancel ticket
6. If the ticket is for one passenger, a confirmation screen appears
7. If the ticket is for more than one passenger, select the passenger whose ticket has to be canclled. After selecting the passenger, a confirmation screen appears
8. Tap Yes, proceed
If your cancellation is approved, a cancellation notice appears in your train transaction history with the refund amount and a summary of the cancellation.
