Gateway Technolabs Pvt Ltd, an Ahmedabad-based global sourcing and IT services provider, has secured the 29{+t}{+h} position in the list of Microsoft’s 50 ‘Most Competent Partners’, relegating Indian IT major HCL Infosystems to the 41st position, while Wipro Ltd stood at 19th in the continuous year-on-year ranking.
And the USP of Gateway that has a presence in 14 countries with customers in 30 nations, is: it works mainly in the non-English speaking world!
The company employs 1,000 people in India and 400 abroad. “When every company was running away from Japan after the tsunami disaster, we entered that country. We now have many Japanese majors as
our clients,” Mr Niraj Gemawat, Chairman and Managing Director, Gateway Technolabs, told Business Line here on Wednesday.
He said 70 per cent of his company’s revenues come from the Scandinavian nations. The Netherlands and Belgium alone contribute 30 per cent of the revenues. Unlike other Indian IT companies, he said, he was not averse to taking risks in uncharted territories, and Gateway did not follow the competitors’ general business model of recruiting too many people and then benching them in wait for the next project.
Mr Gemawat said Gateway, founded in 1997, has got the Microsoft ranking for competency on multiple platforms for various business domains of MS products and technologies. “Ours is a mid-sized, hardcore, high-end technical solutions and services providing company.”
Gateway, besides Wipro and HCL, was selected from among the 79,000 partners short-listed from 640,000 partners. Redmond Channel Partner (RCP) made the selection for Microsoft.
