The T-Works, an exclusive incubator for IT hardware start-ups, will be operational by the end of 2018.
Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao has said that the incubator would make high-end equipment required for hardware engineers and designers working on IT hardware products.
The total cost of the equipment to be installed at T-Works is pegged at about $20 million. The 2.50-lakh space would foster entrepreneurship among start-ups focussed on hardware space.
Betting on designAddressing the 17th India Design Summit here on Tuesday, he said the new facility would allow people with a product idea to work on building prototype and then the final product.
“A good design helps in improving the quality of life and physical environment and bringing about tangible economic and financial dividends,” he said.
2-day meetThe two-day conference is jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, the National Institute of Design and the Government of Telangana.
Naushad Forbes, Immediate Past President of CII, and Chairman of India Design Council, said that the country produced hardly about 5,000 designers every year.
Compare this with 25,000 designers produced by South Korea, which had just 3 per cent of India’s population, a CII release said.
