Swedish multinational Hexagon AB is on expansion mode in India adding a 300-seater centre in Hyderabad and a 250 MSC engineers Tech centre in Pune, as its steps up its portfolio of solutions and services.

Offering a number of solutions for smart cities globally, the $4 billion company, is engaged with several smart cities and expects to consolidate its India presence with its safe city, disaster response and other solutions.

Claudio Simao, Chief Technology Officer, Hexagon, said, “India offers a technology solutions provider like Hexagon an opportunity across its areas of operations and within that space, smart cities present immense scope.”

Interacting on the sidelines of an event to showcase its solutions and offerings, he said the company employs about 2,100, with 1,450 in Hyderabad and a significant number in Pune development centre and the rest across 23 centres, the CTO said “Hexagon global R&D Centre in India is contributing to a number of innovative areas, including Internet of Things, cloud, mobility and artificial intelligence.”

Acquisitions

He said, “the company has made more than 170 acquisitions over the past 16 years, averaging about 10 acquisitions per year. We are open to acquisitions in the areas of artificial intelligence.”

Pramod Kaushik, President, Hexgon India said, “Most of the solutions offered to smart cities relate to surveillance and response issues. And then there are solutions for municipalities to evaluate the assets on the ground and below and above the ground with a combination of radars, scanning and GPS tech.” .

On Hexagon’s engagement with Indian space research and programmes, Kaushik said simulation software solutions are used extensively. Xalt, a new platform creates what he described as autonomous connected ecosystem, which seamlessly connects data by convergence of physical and digital world. With intelligence built into all processes in the network, it enables administrators make informed decisions.

The company also showcased the all new Leica BLK3D, a compact 3D handheld imager the precisely measures images it captures. And another Leica product is a laser scanner with edge computing technology to create accurate 3D models.
