Mr P. Kishore, founder of the Chennai-based Everonn Education Ltd, who was arrested for allegedly bribing an income-tax official, was granted bail by the Madras High Court in his appeal against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court's order.
However, Mr Kishore will not be allowed to visit the company for the next three weeks, based on the CBI's arguments.
Mr Justice K.B.K. Vasuki granted the bail to Mr Kishore on producing a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties.
Mr Kishore was arrested by the CBI on August 30 on charges of bribing an income tax officer Mr Andasu Ravinder.
Businessman Mr Uttam Chand Bohra who reportedly acted as a middleman, was also granted bail. All the three were housed at the Puzhal Jail.
The CBI alleged that Mr Kishore had taxable income of Rs 116 crore, but tried to reduce it to Rs 60 crore by paying a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to Mr Ravinder.
