Huawei Enterprise expects to get about $120 million by 2015 from its new SME business arm.

The enterprise-focused business arm of Chinese network equipment provider Huawei Telecommunications has rolled out a range of products such as video communications, telepresence equipment, video surveillance and gigabit switches and routers.

The total market size of the enterprise networking equipment is about $1.2 billion.

Despite competitors such as Cisco, Nokia-Siemens, Ericsson and others being present in the Indian market for more than a decade, Huawei Enterprise sees growth opportunities.

“We will target SMEs who are still not convinced about the offerings of competitors – both in terms of open access and costs,” Ms Sonia Ahluwalia, Regional Head – South, Huawei Telecommunications.

New products

In line with the needs of SMEs, Huawei launched S5700 series of Gigabit switches that have been designed to meet demands put by high bandwidth access and is energy saving.

The company launched a series of enterprise routers that comes with embedded hardware encryption for security and provides 4 x capacities as compared to competitors, claim Huawei officials.

Switches and routers are devices that forward data packets across computer networks, which enables in accessing the Internet.

“India as an important market and we see demand coming from BFSI, government, transportation and education sectors,” said Mr Eric Yu, President, Huawei Enterprise.

Citing national security, the Indian Government a few years back had evinced concerns with regard to equipment supplied by Huawei.

“We have no issue with the Indian government and are considered an L1 vendor,” clarified Ms Ahluwalia.
