Telecom equipment firm Huawei India has unveiled three smartphones — IDEOS X5, IDEOS X2 and IDEOS Chat — with prices upward of Rs 8,000.
IDEOS X5 is a smartphone for the young professional, while IDEOS X2 is a sleek touch screen mobile targeted at the youth and IDEOS Chat has a touch screen as well as Qwerty keypad, Huawei said in a statement today.
“It is an opportune time for us to launch our new and exciting range of IDEOS smartphones whether it is the X5, X2 or the Chat. We will continue to bring the latest, smartest and most technologically advanced handsets for our consumers at accessible prices,” the Huawei Devices Marketing Director, Mr Anand Narang, said here at the event.
The IDEOS X5 is priced at Rs 14,999 and offers a full touch screen with 5-MP flash camera, while the IDEOS X2 — priced at Rs 8,999 — is powered by an Android operating system and comes with Facebook, Twitter, Google Mobile Suite and other useful applications.
The IDEOS Chat, worth Rs 8,199, is also an Android0based mobile phone and comes with smileys and Google search.
Huawei India has already announced plans to invest $2 billion in India over a period of five years. It has already spent around $200 million on a research and development centre in Bangalore.
The company plans to spend the rest of the money on technology, manufacturing and business expansion.
