Idea launches new 3G phone

Idea Cellular has launched another Android based 3G smartphone - Aurus 2 - its first Jelly Bean-based device. Powered with a 1 GHz processor, it offers video-calling facility. The new device is priced at Rs 6,490 and is targeted at existing 2G users who wish to upgrade to 3G in semi-urban and rural markets.

Idea Aurus 2 has a 3.5-inch touchscreen and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer – Idea Cellular, said, “We are encouraged by the response to our 3G smartphones, having sold over 3 lakh 3G smartphones over the last one year.” Idea is offering data packs of Rs 261 with the device for which users can get 1.6 GB of 3G data and Idea TV subscription free for the first 3 months .
