IMImobile, a provider of value-added services (VAS) solutions to mobile telephone operators, has acquired Skinkers, a UK-based digital agency. The value of the acquisition was not disclosed.
Skinkers, which worked in the area of desktop applications for the last 10 years, has developed iPhone, iPad and Android applications for companies like American Airlines, BBC, Microsoft, Spectator and Virgin Atlantic.
IMImobile plans to integrate these skill sets with its DaVinci Evolved Service Platform that provides solutions such as two-screen interactive TV, m-commerce and customer care.
“After the acquisition of WIN PLC in 2010, this is another important step for IMImobile as we drive our strategy of an open global mobile market for new applications and services,” Mr Vishwanath Alluri, Chairman of IMImobile, said in a statement here on Tuesday.
“We see an increased demand for multi-device applications across our business, especially within the broadcasting and enterprise sectors. The use of smartphones and tablets offers a new medium for communication and the consumption of content,” he said.
“Skinkers brings understanding of digital application development, user-interface design as well as expertise around how to use the latest Web and social network technologies,” Mr Alluri said.
Mr David Long, Chief Executive Officer of Skinners, felt that IMImobile’s global network would help the firm reach out more customers.
