In the tough, competitive, virtual world of gaming, an Indian start-up has marked its entry onto Sony Playstation network with its own game version called Smash 'N' Survive.
Children over 7 to anybody in any age group who has a fancy for fast cars and push up high adrenaline in online gaming can freak out, with 42 concept cars to chase, race and dash, says Mr Rajat Ojha, President of Version2Games, the Hyderabad-based company which developed it.
The company has struck a deal with Sony Computer Entertainment, UK, which will market the game globally. It is perhaps the first India developed game which will go live on Sony Playstation platform, which is growing rapidly globally and in India.
In gaming, car games are second only to shooting. There are several car games available in the market. Interestingly Sony itself has a popular one called 'Twisted Metal’, hence the tie up for Version2Games with the big player is significant. In a way Sony is both our competitor and partner, Mr Ojha told
Version2Games, a fully owned subsidiary of Zen Technologies, a simulation development company and a listed entity, has signed a marketing agreement with Sony, which entails it a 70:30 share in revenues globally. “If we sell 100,000 copies of Smash 'N' Survive, which is being priced at $14.99 we will break even," he says.
The core game play of Smash ‘N’ Survive revolves around vehicle combat. It features several innovations such as a physics-based tornado into which you can push your enemies. This tornado is not the only environmental weapon: You’ll find catapults, crushers and other hazards scattered around the maps, and you can use them to annihilate your opponents. It features 10 maps and 42 concept cars, 19 missions and rest is left for you to smash and survive and win perhaps.
