Info Edge, which runs job portal naukri.com, today launched a common online application form ’The Common App’ on its education portal Shiksha.com for admission in MBA and equivalent courses.
“To start with, we have 14 institutes that will accept application through our online platform. Students can register for free and apply to institutes. They no longer will have to travel distances for buying forms,” Founder and Vice Chairman of Info Edge, Mr Sanjeev Bikhchandani, told reporters here.
Initial partners of Shiksha.com for this application include Nirma University, TA Pai Management Institute, Loyola Institute of Business Administration and Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship.
“Students can also pay fees of their form through Shiksha.com,” Info Edge’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr Hitesh Oberoi, said.
The company is looking to tie up with 100 B-Schools for this online application form by end of this year.
“The opportunity is huge in this segment. There are around 3,000 B-Schools in the country. We expect to get around 100 B-Schools with us by end of this year to use this platform,” the Senior Vice-President and Business head at Shiksha.com, Mr Prakash Sangam, said.
Mr Sangam said that the company has plans to expand this offering for other educational courses.
Mr Oberoi said during the 15 days soft launch period of The Common App, Shiksha.com has had 12,500 unique visitors and over 800 forms have been filled in by students.
