Infosys BPO plans to hire 13,000 more employees next fiscal even as it scouts for acquisitions in the finance and accounting areas.

The BPO arm of Infosys posted revenues of $495 million, growing 16 per cent sequentially and year-on-year. While Infosys BPO does not give out net profit numbers, it said operating margins went up 4 per cent in FY12. The company plans to hire 13,000 people across 18 locations in different geographies.

Currently, the company has 21,421 employees on its rolls. Talking to Business Line , Mr Swami Swaminathan, Managing Director and CEO, Infosys BPO, said: “In these challenging times, we see more growth opportunities, and our growth is testimony to that fact.”

According to Infosys BPO officials, 30 per cent of the outsourcing firm's revenue came from outside of India. The company does business in voice and non-voice related BPO work. In the last few years, it has branched out to newer business segments such as finance and accounting, HR, payroll and procurement-related outsourcing.

It has grown its business by acquiring three companies outside of India since 2007. “We will continue to look at acquisitions in such areas as procurement, finance and accounting or HR,” added Mr Swaminathan.

Infosys BPO has 126 clients in the BPO segment, with customers such as Philips having outsourced some of their business functions.
