Infosys Science Foundation staged a function here on Friday to introduce two scientists who won the Infosys Prize in the recent past.
The event provided an opportunity for the audience to interact with the two scientists, Ayyappanpillai Ajayaghosh and Shamnad Basheer.
Ajayaghosh is Director, National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, CSIR, Thiruvananthapuram. He won the Infosys Prize 2012 for physical sciences.
Shamnad Basheer is founder and managing trustee, Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access, and founder, SpicyIP, and winner of the Infosys Prize 2014 for humanities.
Both addressed the session, providing glimpses of their association with the Infosys Science Foundation, current research work, achievements so far and opportunities in their fields.
The session concluded with discussions on current trends in the field of education and the future of research in India. Students, faculties and researchers from universities in Thiruvananthapuram attended the event.
Governor P Sathasivam inaugurated the event. SD Shibulal, President of the Board of Trustees, Infosys Science Foundation, addressed the gathering.
