Infosys in Mangalore organised a hackathon event at its Mudipu campus on the outskirts of the city recently.
A press statement by the company said here on Wednesday that the event created a platform for engineering students to experience the tools used by information technology industry and to network with professionals.
As part of the hackathon, there was a half-day coding fest for employees on January 1. The statement said that the aim was to develop a solution which would help in knowledge management within the organisation. The best solution was judged based on various parameters such as innovation, creativity, usability and performance.
Another event of the hackathon was idea-thon for students and Infosys employees on January 6. Infosys partnered with Microsoft to design and ideate an innovative application based on the theme ‘Windows 8 app for social good’. The statement said that idea-thon brought together 32 students from seven professional colleges along with Infosys employees.
Several innovative ideas were brought to the table by the participants and the best ideas both from the colleges and from employees were recognised, it said.
