Infosys Pune Development Center (DC), the company’s largest DC by strength, today celebrated its 20th anniversary.

From a humble inception in 1996 with 150 employees, the DC has grown in strength over the last two decades to over 38,000 employees and expanded to two software development blocks spread across 5 lakh sq m.

To mark this milestone, the DC has lined up a series of activities that includes cultural programs and other employee-led activities.

Pravin Kulkarni, DC Head, Infosys Pune, Phase II, said, “From a fledgling with just 150 employees in 1996 to a majestic eagle now with over 38,000 employees, it has been a challenging metamorphosis for the Pune DC, which is growing at a tremendous pace. As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our DC, we are proud to be part of one of the most beautiful Infosys campuses in India.”

Pune holds a special place for the company as the Infosys story started when Narayana Murthy and six engineers established Infosys Consultants Pvt Ltd. in Pune in 1981.

The DC has set a global benchmark for being one of the most eco-friendly campuses through significant sustainability practices that include smart buildings with highest efficiency standards, smart water meters that determines real-time consumption pattern and detects leakages, and the newly commissioned BioUrja (Biogas) plant that is designed to treat 2000 KPD of food waste. Almost 8% of the total power used in the Pune campuses comes from a combination of wind and solar energy.
