Infosys has identified Atlanta as a strategic hub for growth in the US.
In line with that strategy, the second largest IT outsourcing company plans to add 200 employees in the next couple of years in its BPO operations in the State that counts Coca-Cola, Home Depot and UPS amongst some of the Fortune 500 companies. Currently, Infosys BPO employs around 300 people in Atlanta.
Infosys reckons that the company chose Cobb County in Atlanta as a strategic location to service its customers in the south east region of the US, where a bulk of its outsourcing clients are located.
Infosys said that it is impressed by the talent availability and will help in improving the education system to equip students with more market relevant curriculum.
Also, it plans additional investment in training and development to support BPO services across financial services, insurance, healthcare, retail and legal process management services, according to Gautam Thakkar, Vice-President and Unit Head – Enterprise Services, Infosys BPO.
He added that the company will continue to add capacity depending on client requirements. Cobb County has a young workforce in the age group of 25-44, which, according to industry watchers was one of the reasons that prompted the BPO arm to add to its existing workforce. Also, the county has low taxes when compared with some other South eastern regions, according to Cobb County officials.
