Global chipmaker Intel Corp is betting big on the opportunities arising from the Prime Minister’s ‘Digital India’ initiative in the third largest computer market in the world.
“There are huge opportunities beyond selling hardware. The opportunities lie in overhauling of the existing systems and providing connectivity with the existing legacy systems,” said Satish Jadhav, Director (Embedded Sales Group), Intel, South Asia.
Key areasThe company sees opportunities in the Internet of Things, data centres, growth of cloud infrastructure and technologies, e-governance, retail and digital literacy, among others.
The company’s key focus States are Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It is also focusing on the north eastern belt, he added.
Under the National Digital Literacy Mission programme, initiated in 2012 by Intel and industry body Nasscom, the company aims to train 5 million people by this year-end.
